Shortly before the Election, Cindy McCain came to our campus. A protest was organized to fight her husband's policies. This is one of the protesters.

Great photo ;) Love his expression there haha.
It makes me so mad that people are saying that Obama is not doing anything or that he's stupid and he hasn't even been president for a year yet. People need to shut up and WAIT.

The contrast between the carefree/happy face on the protester, and the seriousness of the protest.

lols... did you never click on that sodahead banner... about 50% regret voting for him, and 24% didn't vote for him, and the rest all 26% don't regret it.

Yeah, find me a real source that says that. That sounds biased as all hell. I support Obama still, as do all my pro-Obama friends. I guarantee you the kid in this photo does, too.

Google "do you regret voting for obama" the best say 50% don't regret, the worst say that only 15% don't regret... but all are averaging at 50% didn't vote for him and 25% regret it. That is on the first 20 results.

Like I said... Give him a Red Shirt unless you like Brown more.... and if you don't know what that means I have even less faith in Colleges than ever.

:| A Star Trek reference? A nazi reference? There are a lot of things those two terms could mean. Everything I can come up with is very immature of you. Perhaps you should explain exactly what you mean.

I'm going to look at this in two ways. One - as a portrait. And two - as an effective political message.

One - I feel that the borders are too close to the image, especially at the top (note that there is more space frame-to-feet than head-to-frame). The color of the leaves are a wonderful touch, but the rest of the image (of the guy) is blanded out by the heavy shadowing. The sun both lights up and hides the features, making it difficult to get any sort of emotion or interest in the person behind the poster. His expression does not connect to the political message - it's a squinting-against-the-light smile. This creates a discrepancy between what the intended meaning behind the shot is and its appearance as a random snapshot taking with a point-and-shoot as a curiosity, with no artistic intent.

Political message - Like I said, the political message is limited to the poster and the word-play. The poster is nicely lit up, but oversharpened for me (look at the sides of the letters on full view). There is no context, though I am also inclined to think that the image is not political at all, and it's message is actually supposed to be social, as a critique of students that sit around with cute posters, grinning self-consciously and looking aside.

Overall, the image is not a bad one from a purely technical point of view. The colors are bright and clear, the focus good and the quality crisp. Context is the main issue I felt here.

Just some thoughts. =]

That is a brave student... =P

The exposure, lighting, etc. are right on. I can see this going in some sort of history book, looking back on this election. Nice job!
